BL5/EX/VT – BL5/EX/SONIC

The BL5/EX/VT – BL5/EX/SONIC for 24-36 ton excavators, mulches vegetation up to 16″ in diameter and has a working width of 62″. This head is ideal for handling and removing vegetation in wooded areas, especially when a large shredding capacity and fast operational speed is required. The rotor with Bite Limiter technology comes with special wear-resistant steel limiters that limit the teeth’s reach.  This cuts down on power demand, promotes a consistent working speed, optimizes fuel consumption and  ensures excellent performance when mulching any kind of wood. The BL5/EX/VT has a Variable Torque (VT) motor that delivers a noticeably better performance, increases torque when needed,  minimizes rotor stalling and decreases recovery time. 

Like all FAE products, the sturdy steel frame and the wear-resistant plates inside the crushing chamber provide exceptional durability. Spike Pro bolted-on counter blades produce a very fine mulched material and make maintenance a breeze. The Poly Chain belt drive transmission ensures optimum power transfer and reliability.

The BL5/EX/VT can be equipped with the Sonic system, available only from FAE.  The Sonic system keeps the operating carrier and the FAE mulcher optimally synced with automatic mulcher calibration. It continuously manages the mulcher’s hydraulic settings, achieving a significant boost in overall productivity, of up to 30%. The Sonic system also minimizes rotor stalling and shortens recovery time thanks to the quick recovery of the rotor’s rpm. This head can also be equipped with a hydraulic thumb to facilitate the handling of ground material.
